Aftercare – Wrinkle Relaxers

Wrinkle relaxers are a safe and quick treatment that have minimal impact on your daily activities, however we do recommend following the precautions below in order to achieve the best results from your treatment:

Immediately after your treatment with Wrinkle Relaxers:

  • Avoid touching the area with any force or pressure including massage
  • Avoid consuming alcohol as this can promote bruising
  • Do not lay down for 4 hours following your treatment
  • Do not engage in strenuous exercise for 24 hours as the increased blood flow can move the wrinkle relaxers away from the injection site before it is fully absorbed
  • If needing to wear makeup it is best to use an anti-bacterial makeup such as Lycogel or a mineral makeup. It is recommended not to apply too much pressure when applying the makeup.
  • Avoid active skincare ingredients such a AHAs, Retinol and Vitamin C for 24 hours

During the weeks following your treatment:

  • Do not have a facial for 14 days after treatment
  • Avoid the following treatments for 2 weeks following your wrinkle relaxer
    treatment:
    • Eyebrow treatments
    • Facials
    • Waxing
    • Chemical peels
    • Skin needling
    • Laser treatments (or any Heat Therapies)
    • Facial/Hair/Head massage

FAQs

What you can expect from your treatment with Wrinkle Relaxers:

You will start to notice the results of your treatment within the first 3-14 days, with the end result visible by day 14, depending on the product used. Masseter (teeth grinding) and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) treatments may take up to 4 weeks to take full effect.

A follow up appointment may be needed in order to achieve the best outcome as this allows our nurses to optimise dosage and placement. Once this is achieved, this con be replicated in the treatments that follow.

How long do Wrinkle Relaxers last?

The average person should expect 3 months out of their wrinkle relaxer treatment. Movement can start to return around the 6-8 weeks mark with full pre-treatment movement returned by week 12.

Treatment of the masseter muscles or for excessive sweating can be expected to last up to 6 months

Longevity be subject to on the type of wrinkle relaxer used, number of units used, specific muscle injected, compliance with aftercare and individual factors such as metabolism.

In order to obtain the best results, maintenance treatments are required.
