Plasma Treatments – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP uses your own blood to create a high concentration of platelets which can help regenerate and revitalize damaged skin, reduce fine lines and improve skin colour, texture and quality. PRP is non-surgical, and will refresh, tone and tighten the skin.

How does PRP work?

After the blood is drawn, it is centrifuged and the platelets and plasma are separated. This is then injected back into the area of concern. Important growth factors are then released into the skin and new collagen is formed. A few weeks after your treatment you will notice your skin looking plumper and fuller.

How to Prepare for your appointment:

Taking certain precautions prior to your appointment can assist with the expected side effects and downtime associated with the treatment. It can also give you the best chance for optimal results from your treatment. As a result, we recommend the following:

  • Stop medications including Aspirin, Fish Oil and Ibuprofen 7 days prior to your appointment. Please always check with your GP prior to stopping these medications.
  • Avoid using skincare with active ingredients such as retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and Vitamin C 2 days pre-treatment.
  • Avoid heavy alcohol consumption 24 hours prior.
  • You may choose to take Arnica in at least 2 days advance of your appointment to assist with bruising and swelling.

Please allow for bruising and swelling when choosing an appointment date – please allow the appropriate down time before any special events.
